  • Certificate of Authority from Idaho Secretary of State (if applicable)
  • A certificate of general liability insurance, including products and completed operations coverage, with a minimum coverage of $300,000.
  • A copy of the Workers Compensation certificate or written explanation of exemption is required
  • Denial, Surrender or Revocation Documentation from another state, if applicable
  • Disclosure Form, if applicable
  • Copy of photo ID, as well as the full name, address, and social security number of each owner is required. Company owners cannot be business entities.
  • The federal EIN must be provided
  • Military members (current and active) and their spouses may receive expedited processing and reduced fees.

Biennially by the date of issuance. Licenses initially issued in odd-numbered years renew in odd-numbered years. Licenses initially issued in even-numbered years renew in even-numbered years. 

Notes:

Renewal Fees are posted 6 weeks before the expiration date of your license. Renewals cannot be processed before that time

Required Attachments:

The individual applying for the license must hold or employ someone who holds an Idaho Journeyman or Master Electrician License

Idaho Fire Protection Sprinkler Contractor License

Agency:Idaho Department of Insurance - State Fire Marshal
Insurance Requirements:

The applicant must always obtain and maintain in full force and effect a full term comprehensive general liability insurance policy from an insurance company authorized to do business in the state of Idaho. The policy shall have aggregate limits of not less than $250,000 and including the following:

▪ Premises Operations
▪ Products/Completed Operation Hazard
▪ Contractual Insurance
▪ Broad Form Property Damage
▪ Independent Contractors
▪ Personal Injury
▪ Idaho State Fire Marshal must be listed under the certificate holder.

Qualifying Individual Requirements:

The Qualifying Applicant must be an owner, officer, or manager of the firm. The qualifier must also either:

  • Pass an examination prescribed by the State Fire Marshal and provide documentation to the effect that the applicant has supervised or installed at least four fire sprinkler systems of more than 200 heads each. or;
  • Have a NICET Level III Water-Based Systems Certification

Idaho Lead Abatement Company License

Not required



Lead Services Company licensure is not required on the State level in Idaho.

  • Idaho does not have a state-issued lead abatement license; instead, these licenses are administered federally by the EPA.
  • Although there is no license specific to lead abatement contracting in Idaho, contractors may need an Idaho Business Entity Contractor Registration.

Idaho Limited Electrical Contractor License

Asbestos Services Individual licensure is not required on the State level in Idaho.

Idaho does not operate a state asbestos certification program; therefore, current asbestos certification obtained from any other state asbestos program which meets EPA?s certification and licensure standards is acceptable for conducting asbestos activities in Idaho.
