Maryland Construction Licensing

Enclose a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY AS A CERTIFICATE HOLDER. Minimum limits of liability are $300,000 bodily injury and $100,000 property damage. Show proof of Worker’s Compensation.

Applicants for an Anne Arundel County license must hold and submit a copy of the ACTIVE (insured) COUNTY license for reciprocation. 

Attach a letter from the inspection bureau having jurisdiction, verifying that you have no current violations over thirty days old. Letters must be originals and not be over thirty days old.

Submit a letter from an electrical board of any sub-division of the State of Maryland where you presently hold a license. This letter must state that your license is in good standing, how it was issued and the date of issuance. If you are installing alarms, include a copy of your state security systems technician card, unless you are applying for a Master Limited Electrician license.

• $300,000 general liability, $100,000 property damage (minimum) 
• The insurance must be in your name 
• Certificate Holder must be Baltimore County 
• Baltimore County must be included in your policy as “BALTIMORE
  COUNTY IS AN ADDITIONAL INSURED” on this policy.

Required documents are dependeant upon whether or not the individual is representing a compnay or their own company. See registration application for details. 

• General Liability Insurance
• The certificate holder must read as Department of Housing & Community Development, Board of Electrical Examiners and Supervisors of Baltimore City, 417 E. Fayette Street, Room 100 Baltimore, MD 21202

If you ar elicensed by the State of Maryland provide a Certificate of Insurance naming The City of Frederick, Building Department 140 W. Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701, as Certificate Holder. 

If you are not current licensed in the State of Maryland the bond amount is $2,000. 

1. If you are currently licensed in the State of Maryland : Copy of active, current and signed State of Maryland Electrical License. A Certificate of Insurance naming The City of Frederick, Building Department 140 W. Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701, as Certificate Holder 

2. If not currently licensed in the State of Maryland: Copy of any active, current and signed Maryland County License. Bond in the amount of $2,000.

Provide at least one:

• $5,000 performance bond made out in the individual's name
• Proof of insurance with a minimum of $300,000 general liability and $100,000property damage coverage. The individual's name must appear on this certificateand it must show as the certificate holder: City of Rockville Inspection Services Division 111 Maryland Avenue Rockville, MD 20850

A current Maryland statewide master plumber license is required. 

Section 1-7-99 of the Frederick County Code

You are required to have a $10,000 continuous bond if you choose to provide a letter of reciprocity. 

There are two methods to obtaining this license:

1. Maryland State Electrician's License: You must include a copy of current Maryland State License. No bond is required if you hold a Maryland Electrician's License.

2. Letter of Reciprocity : Enlcose the orginical letter from t he County in the state of Maryland wher eyou secured your orignial Electrician's License. Letter can not be older than 30 days. You are required to have a $10,000 continuous bond. 

The minimum amount of insurance coverage required per occurrence is at least $400,000 and will consist of:

• General Liability Insurance in an amount of no less than $300,000
• Property Damage Insurance in an amount of no less than $100,000
