This registration is required for businesses that reside outside the State of Connecticut and wish to conduct the business of pharmacy within the State of Connecticut. You must be licensed as a pharmacy in your home state in order to obtain this registration.

In general the approval process takes no longer than 60 days provided that the application submitted is complete. Once your application is submitted it will be in a PENDING status until it is approved by the Commission of Pharmacy.

  • Prior to obtaining this registration, your application will be reviewed by the Commission of Pharmacy. You must be licensed as a pharmacy in your home state in order to obtain this registration
  • Once your application is submitted with the appropriate fee and is determined to be complete, the application will be reviewed by the Connecticut Commission of Pharmacy at the next Pharmacy Commission meeting

  • A copy of your Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration
  • A copy of any manufacturing registration that you maintain either with the state in which your pharmacy resides or any federal agency (Food and Drug Administration (FDA), DEA, etc.)
  • A copy of any wholesale/distributor registration that you maintain either with the state in which your pharmacy resides or any federal agency (FDA, DEA, etc.)
  • A copy of your pharmacy’s most recent inspection by the State Board of Pharmacy in the state in which your pharmacy resides
  • A copy of your prescription label 
  • A list of owners, officers, directors, members, managers, and partners, including names and addresses
  • A list of all pharmacists with their address, state of licensure, and license number
  • A list of all pharmacy interns with their address, state of licensure, and license number
  • Any accreditations that you maintain pertaining to your pharmacy, wholesaler/distributor or manufacturing business (i.e. Joint Commission, National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, etc.).

Connecticut Pharmaceutical Marketing Firm Registration

This registration is required for any pharmaceutical manufacturer that employs an individual to perform the duties of a pharmaceutical sales representative. For the purposes of this registration, a pharmaceutical sales representative is a person who markets, promotes or provides information regarding a legend drug for human use to a prescribing practitioner (physician, APRN, physician assistant, etc.) and is employed or compensated by a pharmaceutical manufacturer.

Controlled Substance Registration - In addition to a pharmacy license, controlled substance registration registration is required in many states for pharmacies that distribute controlled substances.

NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) - Host a variety of programs and resources relating to pharmacist and pharmacy licensure and examination.

Pharmacist in Charge - A licensed pharmacist designated by a pharmacy to act as the party responsible for compliance with regulations.

VPP (Verified Pharmacy Program) - A program run by NABP that allows state boards to share information and more easily register out-of-state pharmacies.
