Georgia Architect License

Initial Registration

This section applies to architects that are applying for a license in Georgia for the first time.

$50 application fee + either $5 online processing fee or $10 mail-in processing fee

Reciprocal Registration

This section applies to architects licensed in another state that are looking for reciprocal licensure in Georgia.

Georgia Architecture Firm License

Not required



Architecture Firm licensure is not required on the State level in Georgia.

Architecture firms are not licensed at the state level in Georgia. Business entities are permitted to practice architecture provided that they comply with O.C.G.A. § 43-4-10.

Eligible Entity Types:
  • Business Corporations
  • Professional Corporations
  • Limited Liability Companies
  • Partnerships
Ownership Requirements:

Business Corporations:

  • Either one of the principal officers must be a Georgia licensed architect or;
  • an employee who is a Georgia licensed architect with an ownership interest must be designated in writing as holding a position of authority within the firm which authorizes him or her to direct the architectural services offered by that firm.

Professional Corporations:

  • All shareholders of Georgia PCs must be licensed to practice architecture.
  • At least one member of the board of directors and the president of a professional corporation shall be licensed to practice the profession for which the corporation is organized.

Limited Liability Companies:

  • Either one of the members must be a Georgia licensed architect or;
  • an employee who is a Georgia licensed architect with an ownership interest must be designated in writing as holding a position of authority within the firm which authorizes him or her to direct the architectural services offered by that firm.

Partnerships:

  • Either one of the partners must be a Georgia licensed architect or;
  • an employee who is a Georgia licensed architect with an ownership interest must be designated in writing as holding a position of authority within the firm which authorizes him or her to direct the architectural services offered by that firm.
