Vermont Accounting Firm Registration

Agency:Vermont Board of Public Accountancy
Eligible Entity Types:
  • Sole Proprietorships
  • Corporations
  • Partnerships
  • Associations
  • Any other entity that practices public accountancy
Foreign Qualification is Prerequisite:No
Ownership Requirements:
  • A simple majority of the ownership of the firm, in terms of equity, creditor, and voting rights of all partners, officers, members, shareholders, or managers, belongs to licensed CPAs in good standing in some state
  • Partners, officers, members, shareholders, or managers, whose principal place of business is Vermont, and who perform professional services in Vermont, are Vermont-licensed CPAs in good standing.
  • Firms may include non-licensee owners, provided that the firm designates a licensed CPA in good standing in some state who is responsible for the proper registration of the firm, and identifies that individual to the Board. 
  • Non-licensee owners are active individual participants in the CPA or RPA firm or affiliated entities.

Each office in this State shall be under the supervision of a Vermont-licensed CPA.
