Idaho Business Entity Contractor Registration

A certificate of general liability insurance, including products and completed operations coverage, with a minimum coverage of $300,000. Also, a certificate of workers' compensation insurance for entities with employees.

Before you Apply:
  • Certificate of Authority from Idaho Secretary of State (if applicable)
  • A certificate of general liability insurance, including products and completed operations coverage, with a minimum coverage of $300,000.
  • A copy of the Workers Compensation certificate or written explanation of exemption is required
  • Denial, Surrender or Revocation Documentation from another state, if applicable
  • Disclosure Form, if applicable
  • Copy of photo ID, as well as the full name, address, and social security number of each owner is required. Company owners cannot be business entities.
  • The federal EIN must be provided
  • Military members (current and active) and their spouses may receive expedited processing and reduced fees.

Biennially by the date of issuance. Licenses initially issued in odd-numbered years renew in odd-numbered years. Licenses initially issued in even-numbered years renew in even-numbered years. 

Notes:

Renewal Fees are posted 6 weeks before the expiration date of your license. Renewals cannot be processed before that time

Biennially by the licensee's date of birth. Licensees born in even-numbered years file every even-numbered Idaho state fiscal year, and licensees born in odd-numbered years file every odd-numbered Idaho state fiscal year.

*Licensees born in odd-numbered years will renew for 2 years beginning October 14, 2025. Those born in even-numbered years will renew for 1 year in 2025 and then begin this new biennial cycle when they renew in 2026*
