Ownership Requirements:
  • At least 51% of the owners must hold a CPA license in some state. Each CPA regularly engaged in Alabama must be an Alabama CPA in good standing.
  • All shares of stock in a PC practicing public accounting in Alabama must be owned by CPAs (if practicing as CPAs) or by CPAs or PAs (if practicing as PAs).

Qualifying Individual Requirements:

Each office must be under the supervision of a Resident Manager who must be an Alabama CPA. A resident manager can only serve one office, which must be their principal place of employment. A resident manager must be a sole proprietor, managing partner, managing shareholder, or managing member of the firm.
