The Alabama Secretary of State has released new Alabama LLC forms, effective January 1, 2015. This change affects only domestic limited liability companies, not foreign entities. So, if you’re forming an LLC in Alabama, be sure to use the new forms.

What’s different about this form?

Most of the time, changes in business forms are slight. In this case, however, Alabama is no longer asking for information about the LLC’s organizers and members (names, addresses, etc.). Alabama is also no longer asking about the purpose for which the LLC was formed.

Where can you get the new Alabama LLC forms?

Only here! As of January 5th, the Alabama Secretary of State has not even put the new forms on their website. We’ve gotten our hands on the new Alabama LLC forms, including filing instructions, and have linked them below.

How to file:

If you’re forming an LLC in Alabama, you’ll have to file with the Judge of the County Probate’s office in the county of your registered agent. This will add a filing fee, which varies by county. If you use our registered agent service in Shelby County, your county fee is $58. From there the Probate’s Office will submit to the Secretary of State.
