If your life were a sitcom, what would it be called?

Two and a Half Bens. It would feature me, a clone of me, and a failed half-clone of me living together in a house. It would examine the daily struggle of clones in this crazy go-go world.

Who inspires you, and why?

I’m inspired by serious people who are really dedicated to something. I can gravitate toward anybody, in any field, as long as I can see their dedication toward something and the outcome they achieve.

What is your ultimate vacation?

I’ve always wanted to go to Japan. I would like to see Tokyo, but I’d also like to see the countryside. I would also visit Kyoto. It’s a small city surrounded by gorgeous country.

What do you like to do when you’re not coding web pages?

I can often be found playing video games and going down YouTube rabbit holes. I’ve always liked video games. When I can get out, I like hiking. I also like watching movies, hanging out with friends, and reading. I just bought Blood, Sweat, and Pixels, a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into video game creation. Making games involves coding, storytelling, plotting, a lot of things that are parallel to what I do. I like when I can look into another field and transfer the principles over to my work.

Do you have a workplace nickname?

Megan Danz (CIO) calls me a unicorn because I do graphic design and development. Somehow I manage to pull it all off.

Coffee, tea, or other?

Coffee. So much it’s probably unhealthy. I just love the taste. It’s my vice. My girlfriend and I did Sober September last year, a month with no soda, no alcohol, and no coffee. I got terrible headaches. The day it was over, I went right back. But I did make it through the month.

Do you have a favorite book?

My favorite book of all time is Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut. When I read it, I was amazed. It was so different from the books we read in school, so witty. I didn’t even know someone could write a book like that. I love his dry sense of humor.

If you were a sea creature, what would you be?

An octopus. They’re really cool, freakishly intelligent, and super stealthy. There’s a video of an octopus opening a jar that’s amazing.

What three things can always be found in your car?

Empty coffee cups, a Bluetooth adapter, and a spare tire.

Your coworkers can always count on you for . . .

A high five when they need it most.
