Top 5 Tips on Registering a Business in Montana

  1. You must submit original signatures on your formation documents with the Montana Secretary of State. Submit the original and one copy if you would like a copy returned to you.
  2. Both LLCs and corporations must file an annual report with the Montana Secretary of State. Failure to file results in notice of upcoming dissolution on September 1st then administrative dissolution December 1st.
  3. Every business entity is required to have a registered agent in Montana, including corporations and LLCs.
