How to Get a Certificate of Good Standing

Staying on top of state regulatory requirements keeps your organization in good standing. Generally, this includes registering with the secretary of state, filing annual or periodic reports when required, and maintaining an active registered agent. In many states, good standing also indicates whether you are current on state taxes.

Organizations are often asked to submit a certificate of good standing as part of business transactions such as securing loans or buying property. In some states, certificates of good standing are called certificates of existence or status instead. (State terminology can be confusing, as this document mix-up shows!) Generally, certificates of good standing must be issued within a certain period to ensure that they reflect your present status.

If you need a certificate of good standing, we can order one for you. Make sure your order is timed so the date of the certificate falls within the prescribed window. Our specialists can help if you have questions.

Our software lets you securely store certificates of good standing and other corporate documents such as annual reports, certified copies, and certificates of authority. It also makes it easy for you to access and share documents across your organization. If you haven’t explored the software, schedule a demo and see what it can do.
