Charitable Solicitation Registration

40 states and the District of Columbia require registration if you are going to engage in fundraising. Your nonprofit probably needs to register in a state if either of the following are true:

• The nonprofit solicits citizens or raises funds in that state.
• The nonprofit is physically present in that state, such as by having an office, employees, or conducting program activities.
