Employee Spotlight – Meet Warren Harmon

In this series, we highlight a valued member of the Harbor Compliance team. Get to know Warren Harmon, Account Manager, as he shares what he does to help nonprofits stay compliant, one thing he’s willing to splurge on, and what you won’t catch him wearing, no matter how cold it gets.


What are your duties as an Account Manager?

I field client questions regarding their accounts, keep them up to date on where their projects stand. My responsibilities also include proactively identifying opportunities for our clients to enhance their compliance through the resources and solutions we provide. I also answer inquiries from prospective clients and help out my team wherever I’m needed.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I spend between two and three hours on calls from prospective clients. I also do a lot of road map calls with existing clients, in which I present our initial research and findings and go over the plan for their projects. As the primary point of contact for my clients, I oversee their projects from onboarding through fulfillment through ongoing maintenance. I make sure everything is complete and reach out anytime additional information is needed.

What was the most unexpected aspect of this job?

I didn’t expect to meet so many smart, fantastic people. They have so much specialized experience, and they’re always ready to help. It’s so good to know I can tap someone on the shoulder when I encounter something new, and my team members will have the answers.

What is your ultimate vacation, past or planned?

Actually, my wife’s birthday was this past weekend, and her favorite vacation we’ve taken was a trip to Aruba, so I surprised her with another trip. But when she told her sister about our plans, she said the Zika virus was active there. My wife is pregnant, and we double checked and there was an advisory for pregnant women not to travel to Aruba. Fortunately, I bought travel insurance for the trip, so I changed it to Palm Beach, Florida. I’m calling it a pre-babymoon.

What do you do when you’re not helping nonprofits manage their regulatory needs?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I have a two-year-old daughter, Madeline, and she’s very active, so I try to keep her busy. Right now she’s enrolled in gymnastics and swimming.

Coffee, tea, or other?

Coffee. I drink about four cups a day, but never after noon.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, which coworker would you want to organize your rescue party, and why?

Definitely Brock Klinger (Account Executive). He’s so thorough and organized, he would definitely put all the details together for a successful rescue. He’s also an active outdoorsman, so he would be good for the mission. Also Tom Redd (Sales Development Representative), because of his military background. He could save us from wild animals.

Gloves, mittens, or neither?

Neither. I don’t even wear a winter jacket, just a windbreaker. I don’t wear a hat or anything, even when I’m shoveling snow. I’m always warm. You will never hear me say that I am cold.

Your coworkers can always count on you to . . .

Proactively chip in and help out wherever needed.

Name three things that can always be found on your desk.

A calculator, a note pad, and the postcard Mike Montali (CEO) gave me when we made the Inc. 500 list. I keep it between my two screens for encouragement. It was a very kind note. I appreciate having that open communication with the CEO. I’ve worked for companies before where the CEO was in the same building and you never saw him.

I had other job offers when I interviewed here, and I chose Harbor Compliance because of that personal touch, not just at the top but across the whole team.

One thing you’re willing to spend way too much on . . .

Vacations. I think it’s worth spending more to go someplace really special. It might be a little expensive, but it’s worth it to have those memories, that special time with your family.
