Here at Harbor Compliance, we love business ideas that are socially responsible, have a higher purpose, and support the local community.

We also have a bit of a competitive streak!

That’s why we’re excited to be an in-kind sponsor of the Great Social Enterprise Pitch, right here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

A social enterprise is a for-profit organization designed to have a larger social or environmental purpose. Their concern is the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profits.

“The Pitch” is a friendly competition facilitated by the Lancaster County Community Foundation and ASSETS Lancaster.

Nine contestants are competing for cash and pro-bono prizes to help launch their ideas into social enterprises. We had the chance to meet many of them in June, as they gathered to listen to an energizing talk on Legal Entities for Social Enterprises, by Mike Montali, CEO of Harbor Compliance.

Most importantly, they need your help! Each idea is using a crowdfunding platform called Rockethub, where the community votes on the best idea through a monetary donation. Community voting is open until July 27. You can view the ideas and donate through the Lancaster County Community Foundation website above.

The top three ideas, as well as two others selected by ASSETS Lancaster, the Lancaster County Community Foundation, and the Pitch idea partners themselves, advance to the live pitch stage on August 8th.

Part of transitioning from idea to enterprise is legal formation. Harbor Compliance will provide incorporation services to the winners to help set up their business!

Don’t forget to vote! We can’t wait to see who wins!
